Women’s Ashes 2025: England all out for 90 as Australia complete white-ball clean sweep

England’s woes continued against Australia as they were bowled out for 90 and suffered a disappointing 72-run defeat in the third Women’s Ashes T20 in Adelaide.

Chasing 163 to win, England were reduced to 39–5 inside seven overs and only Heather Knight’s 40 provided any resistance in the chase, while Danny Wyatt-Hodge’s 17 was the only one in double figures. The only other score was in.

England, who trail 12-0 in the multi-format points-based series, have now lost all six white-ball games on the tour, and await an Australian clean sweep with four points during the next match. Test match of the week in Melbourne.

England’s batting condition was so poor that they were outdone alone by Australia’s opener Beth Mooney, who scored an unbeaten 94 from 63 balls as the hosts scored 162–5.

The score did not seem to be beyond England on a good pitch and their batting was an improvement on the previous match in Canberra, where they came within six runs of chasing 186.

But they were completely outclassed in all aspects of the game as only Nat Sciver-Brunt, who was bowled by beauty queen Annabel Sutherland, could realistically say that she was out to a good ball.

Out of the top order, Sophia Dunkley was promoted to open and hit a four to cover in the second over, Elise Capsey was caught sweeping the ball for six and Wyatt-Hodge and Amy Jones both fell in the seventh over for England. Georgia fell to a loose shot by Wareham. Hopes of first victory were dashed.

The Test matches begin on January 30 as England aim to avoid the first clean sweep of the multi-format Ashes since 2013.
