A woman has been accused of murdering a five-year-old child.

lincoln button Died at an address on Windstar Drive On 15 December in South Ockendon, Essex.

One woman was taken to hospital for treatment and after her condition improved, she was arrested and interrogated.

Claire Button, 35, of Windstar Drive, South Ockendon, has been charged with murder and is due to appear before magistrates in Southend on Monday.

Det Ch Inspector Alan Blakeslee, of Essex Police, said: “This is proving to be an extremely complex investigation into the death of a young child.

“My condolences and the thoughts of the entire investigative team are with Lincoln Button’s family as we continue to support them during this terrible time.

“It has taken a huge amount of work and dedication from the investigating team to get our investigation to this stage and I would continue to call on the public to avoid speculating about the circumstances surrounding this case.”

The public is urged not to speculate about the circumstances surrounding Lincoln’s death

In a statement released last week, Boneygate Primary School said it was working closely with authorities to investigate Lincoln’s death.

A spokesperson said, “His love of school, laughter and hugs will be missed and greatly missed.”

“The school’s priority is to assist those in the community who need help to cope with this tragic loss.”

Members of her family also said in a statement: “Link was a cherished, loving, sweet, beautiful young soul who was loved by all and will be deeply missed every day.”
