Who were the victims of the New Orleans attack?


A famous American college football player, a young aspiring nurse and the mother of a four-year-old boy were among the victims of the New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans that killed at least 15 people.
Their names are being released by families and relatives before authorities complete the post-mortem investigation.
This is what we know so far.
Martin ‘Tiger’ Sell
Martin “Tiger” Bech is a former football player at Princeton University.
His death was confirmed in a statement from the university.
“There was no nickname more fitting for the Princeton player I coached,” Princeton football coach Bob Surace said in a statement.
“He was a ‘Tiger’ in every way – a ferocious competitor with endless energy, a beloved teammate and a caring friend.”
Martin Bech’s brother, Jack Bech, posted a tribute on X along with a news article reporting his death.
“Love you always brother!” He has written. “You inspire me every day, now you’re with me every moment. I’ve got this family, don’t worry. This is for us.”
Mr. Bech was a member of the 2016 and 2018 Ivy League championship teams.
Nikyra Cheyenne Dedox
The 18-year-old was an aspiring nurse.
His death was confirmed by his mother, Melissa Dedeaux, on social media.
“I have lost my baby, just pray for me and my family!!! Oh God, I need you now!!” the mother pleaded, along with a photo of her daughter wearing this year’s red graduation cap and gown.
Ms Dedeaux – who is also a nurse – told local media outlet NOLA that her daughter was due to start her nurse training at the end of the month.
She further said that Nikyra had eaten the meal with her cousin and friend, both of whom survived.

The death of the store manager and father of two was confirmed to BBC News’ US partner CBS News by his cousin Shirell Robinson Jackson.
Ms Jackson described him as “full of life”, and said the 37-year-old had messaged the family after midnight wishing them well in their new closeness.
He was with another cousin who was injured in the attack.
Nicole Perez
Kimberly Asher Fall, Ms. Perez’s friend and the boss of the deli store where she worked, called her a dedicated, smart and “good-hearted person,” according to CBS.
The 27-year-old woman was also the mother of a four-year-old boy.
Matthew Tenedorio
The 25-year-old audio-visual technician had a “comfortable spirit and infectious laugh” that brought joy to those around him, according to a fundraising event set up in his name by his family.
His mother, Kathy Tenedorio, told American broadcaster NBC News that she last saw her son alive at 21:00 local time on New Year’s Eve, adding that she remembered hugging and kissing him.
