WhatsApp is working on a new translation feature, will support these languages including Hindi, English

WhatsApp has been working on chat message translation feature since July. Now it has been revealed that the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is also working on a feature that will translate channel updates into multiple languages. Here we are telling you in detail about the chat translation feature of WhatsApp.

This has been revealed by WABetaInfo, where this feature was detected in version 2.24.26.9 of WhatsApp Beta for Android. It’s not currently available to beta users as it’s still a work in progress, but screenshots shared by WABetaInfo reveal that there will be new updates to the channel and a toggle to translate messages in chat.

This translation will happen on the device itself without the need for an active internet connection due to security and privacy. So users will need to download the language pack to use the translate feature, which means the translation will be accurate. This is necessary for privacy. WhatsApp will initially support English, Hindi, Russian, Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese, but more languages may be added later. However, there is no information from WhatsApp about when this translation feature will be introduced for everyone.

The company has first announced the new calling feature for desktop and mobile users. Initially, WhatsApp users can now select specific members from a group chat for a call without disturbing all the members of the group. Apart from this, 10 effects can also be selected for video call. WhatsApp on desktop makes it easy to make calls, create a call link, or dial a direct number when users click the Call tab. WhatsApp also says that you can now get high resolution videos for 1:1 and group calls.
