The 13th annual World Happiness Report was released to mark the happiness of the United Nations international day, ranking the world’s happiest countries to evaluate their lives to the world’s happiest countries.

Finland again topped the average score of 7.736 out of 10, while Costa Rica and Mexico have first entered the top 10.

Both the UK and the US moved the list to the 23rd and 24th position respectively – the lowest position for the latter.

The study published by Velbing Research Center University in Oxford asked people to rate their own life on a scale of 0-10 – zero is the worst possible life and 10 is the best possible life.

The country’s ranking is based on an average of three years of those scores.

2025 World Happiness Report also received:

• Combined to explain the rise and direction of political polarization in the US and parts of Europe;
• Sharing food with others was firmly associated with goodness worldwide;
• The shape of the house was connected with joy, with four to five people living together, enjoying the highest level of happiness in Mexico and Europe.
