Van driver hunt continues after deadly tram accident

Police have continued the search for a driver after a three -year -old girl was killed in an accident between a van and the tram at Manchester City Center.
Officers are understood to know who the criminal is and actively looking to detain him.
Officials said that after hitting the tram on Saturday morning, the van ended on the sidewalk where he killed the girl, the officials said.
He was first given emergency treatment by the respondents and rushed to the hospital, where he died of injuries.

Two air ambulance crew also reached the spot after the accident, which took place just before 10:00 GMT.
The GMP stated that the accident was considered as a separate incident, with no widespread threat to the community.
The roads near the Manchester Art Gallery were temporarily closed around the scene, while the tram services also experienced major disruption.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TFGM) said it was supporting the police with investigation.
The Manchester City Council said that it would ensure that the family has its “full support”.
Councilor Pat Carney told BBC North West Tonite: “I can’t imagine the pain and sorrow that is going through this family.”
After public comments on the security of the junction, he said that “it would be completely inappropriate to debate about it at this level – we are really thinking about the family”.
“We are in a legal process, so the police will conduct their investigation and then over time, a coroner will be reported and any recommendation about the future of that junction will come to the council,” he said. “Obviously we will take it very seriously.”
