UN calls for permanent ceasefire in Gaza: How did your country vote? , Israel-Palestine conflict news

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has voted for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The resolution was approved by the 193-member assembly on Wednesday with 158 votes in favor, nine against and 13 abstentions.

Notably, it marked the first time that Germany and Italy voted in favor of a ceasefire in Gaza. As a result, the United States is the only country among the major industrialized countries of the Group of Seven (G7) that continues to oppose it.

General Assembly resolutions are not legally binding, but they carry political significance, representing global opinion on Israel’s war in Gaza.
