Trump threatens 200% tariff on liquor from the European Union

US President Donald Trump has threatened 200% tariff on any alcohol or alcoholic beverage coming from the European Union in the US, if the block does not remove its tariff on US whiskey.
It has been stated by the European Union that it will put a levy on the US-made whiskey as part of its counter-tariff in response to the US tariff on all steel and aluminum imports.
Trump called the European Union measures “dirty” and called the block “hostile and derogatory” for American goods for € 26BN (£ 21.9bn, $ 28.3bn).
He called upon the US whiskey to immediately remove the European Union tariffs, stating that the European Union was “formed for the sole purpose of taking advantage of the United States”.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump said that the tariff on the import of European Union liquor would be “great for alcohol and champagne businesses in the US”.
The latest threat has led to a continuous increase of a trade war, which has provoked financial markets in many countries around the world, including the US, amid concerns over the impact on economies and consumers.
On Wednesday, Trump proceeded with a plan to widen the US tariff on Steel and Aluminum, implemented a blanket duty of 25% and abolished the discount that the US had provided for shipment from some countries the first.
Following an order earlier this month, which increased the levy on Chinese imports to at least 20%on Chinese imports in the US.
Trump has also threatened tariffs – which are taxed taxes on goods entering a country – on a series of more specific items including copper, wood and cars.
Leaders in Canada and Europe have called new taxes inappropriate and have returned with their own tariffs on a series of American products.
