Trump campaign manager calls Lord Mandelson ‘a complete idiot’
A campaign adviser to US President-elect Donald Trump has called incoming British Ambassador to the US Lord Peter Mandelson “a complete idiot”.
In a post on social media, Chris LaCivita said Lord Mandelson should “stay at home”.
Mr LaCivita, who was Trump’s co-campaign manager for the presidency, criticized the British government’s decision, saying it was “replacing a professional universally respected ambo (ambassador) with a complete idiot”.
Lord Mandelson is one of the best-known figures in British politics, having served in a number of ministerial roles under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown before becoming a life peer in the Lords.
He described his appointment as Britain’s next Ambassador to the US as “a great honour”.
