Tottenham: Anze Postecoglou ‘didn’t like what was being said’ by fans
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou says he “didn’t like what was being said” by some Spurs supporters after the defeat to Bournemouth – but “you have to cope with it”.
Immediately after their 1–0 defeat at the Vitality Stadium, Postecoglou pointed towards a group of Tottenham fans who were expressing their anger and marching towards the other end of the pitch to confront him.
Words were exchanged before a manager attempted to defuse the situation by waving at the 59-year-old Australian.
“They are disappointed and rightfully so,” Postecoglou said in a post-match press conference. “He gave me some direct feedback, which I have accepted.
“I didn’t like what was being said because I’m a human being but you have to deal with it.
“I’ve been around long enough to know that you have to understand the frustration and disappointment when things aren’t going well. And they’re rightly frustrated because we’ve let the game of football get away from us. But It’s okay I’m okay with all that.
“All I can say is that I’m really disappointed and I’m committed to making this right and will keep fighting until we do.”
Tottenham’s defeat at the hands of Bournemouth has dropped them to 10th in the Premier League table, one place below the Cherries.
It was Spurs’ sixth league defeat this season, with only five teams in the top flight having lost more games than them.
“It depends on us as a collective that we are more determined to control the game of football and not let the opposition take control,” Postecoglou said.
