To discuss the Ukraine plan with the UK and France Trump, PM says

Prime Minister Sir Kir Stmper has stated that the UK and France to work with Ukraine “will discuss the plan with the United States” – and then “the plan with the United States”.

The Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelansky is at a summit of European leaders, two days after a fierce exchange at the White House with US President Donald Trump.

Sir Keir stated BBC One on Sunday with Laura Kunsberg that his “driving purpose” was yet to act as a “bridge” between the two men.

Asked how he saw Spat at the White House, Sir Keir tried to play the incident, saying “no one wants to see it” and admitted that he feels “uncomfortable”.

He said that the PM’s response was to take the phone to his counterparts Trump and Zelanski the same night, in an attempt to “bring us back to the central focus”, he said.

“There are many different routes that people can go down. A rhetoric has to be ramping how angry all of us are or not.”

He said that the second option was to call both men “Roll up my sleeves” and quickly to call both men – and then to talk to French President Emmanuel Macron that the major countries of Europe will play.

“Because my response was that we have to bridge it, we have to find a way that we all can work together because in the end we have now had a bloody struggle of three years, we need to achieve that permanent peace”.

In the interview, the Sir Kir was careful to avoid laying any defect for the line and insisted that he was “clear in my mind that” Trump “wanted a permanent peace”, “Yes” while responding to “yes” when he believed that he believed that he could trust Trump.

Zelansky can also be trusted, he said, but not Russian President Vladimir Putin – that is why the US needs to provide security guarantee for any peace deal.

The Prime Minister admitted that an European security guarantee would have to be done under the leadership of an “interested coalition”.

Sir Kir said that “Europeans have stood in the last three years” but “that” usually “Europe needs to do more in its defense and safety and that’s why I have said that we need to increase the expenditure, we have got to increase capacity and we have got to coordinate more because in Ukraine conflict we have seen that we have not seen”.

Earlier this week, PM announced Defense funding up to 2.5% National Income by 2027, due to which resign His International Development Minister Anelis Dods.

Trump called America’s NATO colleagues to increase defense spending up to 5% of their respective national income.

France spends 2.1% on defense and promised to double it by 2030.

Sir Keir urged all European countries to review their defense budget, saying: “Europe usually needs to do more in its defense and safety and so I have said that we need to increase expenses, we have got to increase capacity.

To explain that an European “interested” he said: “We need to clarify that an European security guarantee (in Ukraine} will look like.

“We got to find countries in Europe that are ready for a little further inclination.”

He said that the UK and France were leading the thinking on this, but he said: “It is equally better.”
