The President Short Davos trip cut as Congo Fighting Rage

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo has cut his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos as a deadly struggle returns home.

Since the beginning of the year, Dr. The fight in the eastern region of Congo has intensified, in which the Rwanda-supported M33 rebels are seizing more than before.

The United Nations says that since the beginning of this year, more than 400,000 people have fled from their homes as the M23 provincial capital Goma has an M23 advancement.

President Felix Teskedi took back from Switzerland for immediate security meetings with top officials.

In the last few weeks, M23 has captured the cities of Massey and Minova in North Kivu.

Local leaders said on Thursday that more than 200 civilians have been killed in areas occupied by M33.

And according to the United Nations, two children died after a bomb fell in a camp for displaced people.

Goma collapse – more than a million city that is close to the border with Rwanda – will be a major coup for rebels. He briefly captured the city during a rebellion in 2012, but was withdrawn after a deal.

Many roads leading to the city have now been blocked, which may cause food supply in the city.

“Goma city is held in a vice president, the city suffocates, there are no more entrances, no one else is out … This population is very suffering” local union leader Bahla Shamavu Innocent told the BBC.

Espore Nagaluki, a member of the opposition party Ensambal Pau La Republic, is also concerned about access to food.

“We are not safe for real in Goma,” said Mr. Nalguki. “Anyone who lives in Goma can tell you that he is not afraid.”

But the Congo’s Army said that it had rejected the attack, which is just 20 km (12 mi) from Goma.

Residents of Khartiyar and broad region – many of whom had already been displaced by conflict – have fled from their homes.

People are avoiding carrying mattresses and other such essential things on their back, while dozens of congested wooden boats are stacked.

Thousands of nervous families have fled towards Goma, where hospitals have been overwhelmed by the injured citizens.

M23 has taken control of the huge self-interests of mineral-rich Eastern Dr Congo since 2021. As a result, hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced.

Last year, there was also fear that the rebels would seize Goma. There was a lullah in the battle at the end of July, but the heavy battle resumed in October, and deteriorated at the end of the year.

Dr. The Congo and the United Nations say that the M23 is supported by Rwanda. Rwanda officials neither confirm nor deny this.

On Friday, United Nations Secretary -General Antonio Gutres warned that the current conflict risk increases in a broad regional war.
