The plan to freeze pip disability profit can be dropped

The minister is considering leaving plans to free some disability benefits, BBC.
Preliminary reports suggested that personal freedom payment (PIP) would not increase in accordance with inflation for one year, but many usually loyal labor MPs have strongly opposed meetings in number 10, as well as party whip and ministers.
The eligibility criteria for PIP will be tightened with the government with the hope of cutting billions of pounds from the welfare budget, but leaving the freeze can avoid potentially harmful votes in the commons.
Work and Pension Secretary Liz Kendal will determine the details of the reforms for welfare in a green paper next week.
A part of the reform will also include a “right to try” guarantee – providing opportunities to disabled people to take employment without the risk of losing their benefits if it does not work.
After completing his plans, Liz Kendel will reveal the full scale of a decrease in welfare expenses between £ 5BN and £ 6BN in his spring statement on 26 March.
On Friday he said The government needed to “get a catch” On the welfare bill, saying that the system is not working for taxpayers or recipients.
The total expenditure on health and disability benefits is estimated to increase from £ 64.7bn to £ 100.7BN in 2023-24. According to the office for budget responsibility, the biggest contributor in this growth will be from welfare expenses on working adults.
PIP is the second largest single element of the Working-Edge Welfare Bill.
In 2023-24, PIP did a total of £ 18bn, a figure was estimated to be almost double £ 34bn by 2029–30. This would mean that the number of claimants is increasing from 2.7 million to 4.2 million.
With a majority holding labor, PIP will be likely to pass the vote in a freeze, but will be exposed to internal divisions.
Sources said that the measures to be announced by BBC will still be difficult and prohibited that qualifies for Pip is likely to worry about some labor MPs.
Even with the plan of strict eligibility measures, sources said that the expenditure on PIP will still increase, but not as soon as the forecast.
The purpose of PIP is to help with additional life costs for those who have long -term physical or mental health conditions. Some recipients are in work and argue that it provides necessary help that enables them to remain in employment. But it also goes to those who are disabled and unable to work.
In support of many MPs of welfare reforms, many MPs have told the BBC that they have been assured that seriously disabled people will not be expected to work and will not lose entitled for profit.
The expected changes in the profit system come after the announcement by the government that it will an ax to NHS England, the body of arms length is currently responsible for running healthcare in England.
Health Secretary Wes Streeting has indicated that it is planning to further cuts that he says that in Sunday Telegraph, the efficiency of healthcare will improve that there is “more change for coming”.
He said that the “hundreds” of the official bodies were identified as “safety of the patient and disorganized to the regulatory landscape”.
He said, “Patients and employees can equally look at the disability and waste in healthcare. My team and I are passing through the budget line, with constant focus on the bureaucratic bureaucracy,” he said.
A department of the spokesperson of work and pension said: “We have made it clear that the current welfare system is broken and needs to be improved, so that it is a long -term sick and disabled people who can work to find employment, ensuring that people need to get support, while appropriate for the taxpayer.
“More people will be excluded from jobs without reforms, want to do many things. It is not only bad for the economy, it is also bad for people.”
