The Department of US Justice asks Eric Adams to give up corruption case to leave the corruption case

The US justice department has asked the prosecutors to give up corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

In a memorandum viewed by BBC’s US News Partner CBS, Deputy Attorney General Emil Bowe, appointed by President Donald Trump, directed the federal prosecutors in the southern district of New York to end the case.

Adams was charged in September on five allegations of bribery, conspiracy and campaign finance violation. He has pleaded not guilty.

He is accused of accepting an official from Turkish traders of illegal campaign funds and thousands of dollars in luxury travel benefits and their influence as mayor.
