The child dies after hitting the car on the sports pitch

A child has died after hitting the car on the sports pitch.

Emergency services attended the Kendal Rugby Union Football Club in Cumbria after 16:58 GMT, which reported two children on a car and pitch.

The Cumbria police confirmed that one of the children was killed and the other was being treated by paramedics.

The driver of the car, in the 40s, has been arrested due to suspicion due to death due to dangerous driving.

The police consider it as a separate incident and said there was no suggestion that it was related to terror.

The car involved was a black BMW i40.
