Teen died and four were injured in Austria’s knife attack

A teenager has died and four people have been injured in a knife attack in Austria.

It took place around the 16:00 local time (15:00 GMT) near the main class of Wilk, a southern city near the border with Italy and Slovenia.

The victim was 14 years old and the suspect is a Syrian refuge, who is detained, the AFP news agency reported a police officer.

Police spokesman Renner Donisio told AFP, “A person attacked the passers by a knife randomly.”

The police spokesperson told the national broadcaster of Austria that a delivery worker helped drive his vehicle in the attacker, and helped prevent more injuries.

The police have not included another attacker, the ORF said.

The broadcaster said that two of the four injured were in critical condition.

No purpose or link between the knife and the five victims has yet been found, although the ORF reported that the extremist police was drafted to investigate.

The Governor of Carinthia Peter Kaiser – the area where the villak is located – described the attack as “unimaginable atrocities”.
