Storm surge: Britain to be hit by rain and winds and brown warning issued
Late on Friday night, a developing area of low pressure will begin to bring heavy rain and strong winds to western parts of the UK.
As it moves into Saturday, it becomes Storm Darragh with its center crossing northern England.
A severe weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for strong winds across Northern Ireland, south-west Scotland and western areas of England and Wales from 3am to 9pm on Saturday.
Gusts will be around 70–80 mph (113–129 km/h), especially along coastal areas. Further inland, gusts will be 60–70 mph (96–113 km/h).
These wind gusts are likely to damage buildings and cause travel disruption, particularly to ferry services in the Irish Sea.
There is a yellow Met Office major wind warning for all parts of England and Wales from 3pm on Friday until 6am on Sunday, when Darragh will cross into the North Sea.
Winds will be around 40-50 mph (64-80 km/h) widely across England and Wales, causing some transport disruption on Saturday.
