Southport killer sentence will not be reviewed
The Attorney General has rejected the call of appeal to review the length of the jail sentence of Southport killer Axle Rudakubana.
18 -year -old Rudkubana is serving a minimum 52 -year sentence for the killing of Elsey.com, Seven, Babe King, Six, and Alice Dr. Silva August, Nine at Southport in July 2024.
In a statement issued on Friday evening, Lord Hermer Casey said: “After carefully considering independent legal advice and counseling with major criminal barrister and crown prosecution service, I concluded that the case properly appealed to the court. Can not be sent. “
He said that no one would want families to be kept through an unnecessary forward court process “where there is no realistic legal basis for the increased punishment”.
Lord Hermer said Rudkubana’s sentence was “the second longest sentence imposed by the courts in English history”.
He said: “Rudkubana will never be released and he will spend his rest of his life in jail.
“The government has set the next steps which should now be to ensure that these terrible murders will be a line in the sand.
“Today my views are with Babe, Elsey and Alice’s friends and families, as well as other victims – your memories will not be forgotten.”
Rudkubana was 17 years old when he went to a teller Swift-themed dance class in Southport and Start attacking children and adults,
He went to jail in January, including three cases of murder in the Liverpool Crown Court, efforts of 10, and a terrorist training manual for other crimes.
