Salaries rise as job vacancies continue to decline
According to the latest official data, wage growth has increased for the first time in more than a year.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said regular wages, which do not include bonuses, rose at an annual pace of 5.2% between August and October.
The number of job vacancies in the UK fell again, but still remains above pre-pandemic levels.
The unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.3%, although there are questions about the reliability of the ONS jobs figures due to issues with the way the data is collected.
