Police Challenge Sheku Boh investigation expansion
The police is taking action on the way the scottish government is handling the call to expand the conditions of the investigation into the death of a person in the police custody.
Sheku Beaoh died when he was stopped by about six police officers, who were called on 3 May 2015 on the Hefield Road in Fiff’s Kirkaldi.
Scotland Deputy Prime Minister Kate Forbes has been urged to expand the conditions of the reference to the public inquiry, investigating the conditions of the 31-year-old death and whether the race was a factor.
Police Scotland stated that the main constable who had applied for a judicial review “reluctantly” by Fareel to ensure that the process behind any such expansion is “valid”.
The Crown Office and Procuretor Fiscal Service (COPFS) decided not to take legal action against the police officers involved in the 2015 incident after an investigation.
Amer Anwar, a lawyer of the Beoh family, earlier stated that he wants Ms. Forbes to expand the terms of the context how Crown makes his decisions.
Police Scotland has expressed concern about the manner in which the proposed expansion is being handled.
Deputy Chief Constable Alan Spirus said: “Sheku Beaoh died, and was a terrible tragedy and fully supports the investigation with full candor’s approach to provide reply to the family and friends of the chief constable Sheku.
“Police Scotland has written to the Deputy Chief Minister to prepare an inappropriate approach in the ongoing process in the context of the proposed expansion.
“This involves failure to share relevant materials that have made it impossible to engage properly with the consultation of the Scottish government for service.”
He said that the police Scotland had “no desire to enter legal proceedings”.
A spokesman at the Crown Office said: “The COPFS supports the investigation and respects the situation of the Beoh family and other investigative participants.
“Crown investigated the death of Sheku Beoh in great detail and reserved his right to prosecute.”
A spokesman for the Scottish government said that they are aware of the proceedings.
