Police are investigating reports of poison being mixed in drinks at Parliament Bar.

Police are investigating a report that a woman’s drink was laced with intoxicants at a bar in Parliament House.

The parliamentary researcher reported his drinks being tampered with to bar staff and security on the evening of Tuesday 7 January, Parliament’s second day after the festive recess.

The alleged incident took place at around 6.30pm at the Strangers Bar, which is open to MPs and their guests as well as parliamentary staff.

A Met Police spokesperson confirmed that the investigation was ongoing and the victim was being supported, but that no arrests had been made “at this stage”.
