Pink flamingos seized from smugglers in Tunisia

According to the country’s customs body, ten endangered flamingos have been saved after smugglers were caught after trying to traffic out of Tunisia.

Pictures of birds were engulfed in crates with their wings, legs and torsos, which were posted online by the force.

Flemingos was rescued close to the Algerian border on Sunday, “A tunisian registration plate was loaded on a lorry”, Officials said in a statement,

Officials have now safely returned to their natural habitat, said, “as part of efforts to preserve the species”.

But it is not clear what action is being taken against the alleged smugglers.

Flamingos or smuggling in Tunisia is illegal because they are protected by Tunisian law.

Other dangers of the flamingos include pollution and rising temperatures caused by human-inspired climate change, saying protectionists, causing shrinking of the dwellings of the wetlands of Flemingos.

Greater Flamingo, or Fenicopterus rose To use its scientific name, it is listed as a danger species by the International Union for conservation of nature.

Still there are some good news, as the data collected in the last decade has seen some population increase.

The latest estimates show that at least half million Left in the wild.

North Africa is one of many people for these migratory birds, also seen in Europe, West Africa and Asia.

Bird-watching hotspots for Flemingos include Zarba Island on the southeastern coast of Tunisia and Korba Lagoon in the north.
