Outdoor Learning Group closes seven UK centers
BBCSeven residential activity centers at schools have closed after the company that runs them went into administration.
Inspiring Learning Group said the centers operated by its subsidiary Kingswood would close immediately and it was “devastated”.
The three Kingswood centers have been acquired by outdoor education firm PGL Beyond (PGL) and will remain open. They are Overstrand Hall in Cromer, Norfolk, Dearne Valley in Doncaster and Grosvenor Hall in Ashford, Kent.
pgl Said: “This will ensure that planned homes for more than 50,000 young people in 2025 will go ahead.”
The Kingswood centers closing immediately are:
- West Runton, Norfolk
- Green Park, Buckinghamshire
- Dukeswood House, Northumberland
- Peak Venture, South Yorkshire
- Staffordshire, near Wolverhampton
- Ryde, Isle of Wight
- Colomendy, North Wales
In a statement, Kingswood Said: “We are very sad to inform you that we have gone into administration.
“Unfortunately, seven of our centers will now be closed, and any planned trips to these will not be fulfilled by Kingswood.”
It added: “We appreciate that this news will be difficult to absorb…”
Kingswood said PGL had agreed a deal with administrators to provide “groups whose centers are closing with a support package by offering alternative arrangements at PGL centers with no financial impact on parents.” Will not have to.”
PGL said the acquisition of its three centers secured 150 jobs.
Its chief executive, Anthony Jones, said: “We know what an important milestone a residential school provides in a young person’s journey, and we are conscious of the potential impact if this life-changing experience is missed. “
