‘No sustainable peace’ in Ukraine if Europe is not in talks

The Business Secretary has told the BBC that there could be no “sustainable peace” in Ukraine without the participation of European countries in any talks to end the war with Russia.

Jonathan Reynolds reduced the division between the US and its allies when the conflict resolved, following concerns, the Trump administration was moving forward with peace talks with Russia that would shut down European leaders.

In response, European leaders, including Sir Kir Stmper, are about to organize an emergency summit next week, while American officials are due to meeting Russian negotiators.

Reynolds said with Laura Kunsberg program on Sunday that the UK could serve as a “bridge” to strengthen the relationship between the US and the continent.

Reynolds also reported that the program hosted by Victoria Derbyshire had to respond to American demands to pay more towards his “collective defense” in front of “maximum dangers”.

He said that the UK government would set up a road map to increase defense spending from 2.3%, but refused to offer a solid timetable and said that any decision would take into account the dangers.

Asked if this threat had just grown up without America, he said “there was no doubt”.

Reynolds said they felt that the UK could “play a creative role” between the US and Europe in Ukraine.

“I am not saying that it is going to be easy, there is a very vocal agenda from America.”

But he argued that Europe and Ukraine would have to join for any peace disposal.

“Finally (President Trump) is the one who likes to win, and winning will not reward a war war,” said Rrenolds.
