Nick Kev says that after the death of the son, the work turned him away

Singer and writer Nick Kev says that the death of his two sons made him realize that the art is not everything, and his wife and family now run him.

Australian musician told BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Disc That his wife and family are now the source of his creativity, and where he gets his happiness.

“It is difficult to say how beautiful it is that I have a small grandson, who is about seven months old.”

Kev’s 15 -year -old son Arthur died in Briton in 2015 in a rock accident and his eldest son Jethro died in 2022 in Melbourne at the age of 31 years.

Frontman of Nick Kev and the Bad Seeds, 67, told hosts Lauren Lavarn about his changing attitude: “It has a lot of money to Arthur and Jethro … I always thought that art, the end of the day, the end of the day Like, everything.

He said that he used to go to an office every day, close the door and “work … in a way, you know, surprised by my own creative ability”.

“And I think after Arthur’s death, I have closed the office, and I’m not gone, I just closed it,” he said. “I was just distorted by it. It seems very pleasant.”

Kav, while talking about the grief of losing his sons earlier, said that after Arthur’s death he felt his presence all the time.

He wrote, “Grief and love are always connected to each other.” In an open letter“Sorrow is a terrible reminder of the depths of our love and, like love, grief cannot be compromised.”

He told Lavarn that although he still does “very, very hard”, but now it is not “everything and end of everything”.

Kev, known for songs including Red Right Hand and INTU My Arms, continued: “I get my responsibility towards my children and my wife, and to be a citizen, a husband, to be a husband, these things behind these things There are real motivational power, or should be a living power behind our creativity. “

He said that he is the greatest happiness “comes from my family and my wife, one aspect of my family is that it is difficult to say how beautiful it is that I have a small grandson of seven months”.

Kev and his family, including Arthur’s twin Earl and fashion designer wife Susie, have moved from Brighton to Los Angeles because he found it very difficult to live so close to Arthur.
