More than a dozen injured in Houthi missile attack in Tel Aviv
More than a dozen people have been injured in a Houthi missile attack in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The Israeli military said an attempt to shoot down a projectile launched from Yemen failed and it fell in a public park early Saturday.
A Houthi military spokesman said the group attacked a military target using a hypersonic ballistic missile.
HouthisThe Iran-backed rebel group that controls northwestern Yemen began attacking Israel and international shipping soon after the start of the Gaza war in October 2023, saying they were acting in solidarity with the Palestinians.
Israel’s military says about 400 missiles and drones have since been launched at the country from Yemen, most of which have been shot down.
Following the missile attack early Saturday, Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom (MDA), said it treated 16 people who were “lightly injured” by shards of glass from broken windows in nearby buildings.
Another 14 people were treated for minor injuries while on their way to protected areas, it said.
Earlier this week, Israel launched a series of strikes against Houthi military targets, Ports as well as energy infrastructure in the Yemeni capital Sanaa are being affectedHouthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported that nine people were killed in the port of Salif and the Ras Issa oil terminal.
The Houthis have vowed to continue their attacks until the war in Gaza ends.
