Michael Martin to be officially installed as Taoiseach
The Irish Parliament will reconvene on Wednesday and Fianna Fáil leader Michael Martin is set to return as Taoiseach for a second time.
Mr Martin will be elected as Taoiseach (Prime Minister) in the 35th Dáil (Irish Parliament), replacing Fine Gael leader Simon Harris, who will return as Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister).

Sinn Féin remains the largest opposition party, winning 39 seats. Fianna Fáil gained 48 seats while Fine Gael came third with 38 seats.

This agreement paved the way for the next government and was successfully supported by both parties in recent days.
Speaking after his party endorsed the program for the Government, Mr Martin said there was a “strong commitment” from his party to doing something for the Irish people.
“I can assure you, we will leave no stone unturned in working selflessly on behalf of the people of Ireland to deliver this program for Government, to make things better for people and improve the quality of life “Because we live in very turbulent global waters.” He said.
Both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael rejected Sinn Féin as a coalition partner, party leader Mary Lou McDonald called for. “bad practice”,
It is the first time since the November elections that a new government will be in place, with government negotiations taking about five weeks to complete.
The new Dáil has already been a source of controversy after a number of independent TDs who support the government, including Michael Lowry, Danny Healy-Ray, Barry Heneghan and Gillian Toole, wanted to sit and speak from the opposition benches.

As part of Wednesday’s Dáil return, Mr Martin will travel to Áras An Uachtaráin at around 13:00 local time to meet Irish President Michael D Higgins at a state reception.
The President will then sign the warrant of appointment and submit the seal of the Taoiseach and the seal of the Government to Mr Harris.
Later, at approximately 20:00, the appointment of members of the government will begin.
The President will sign the warrant of appointment for members of the Government and the warrant of appointment for the Attorney General, each of which will be countersigned by the Taoiseach.
The President will then present each Minister in turn with the seal of his office.
