Meta To Fire 3600 Employees Mark Zuckerberg Says Will Hire New People
Meta has given employees sleepless nights by announcing major layoffs as early as 2025. Mark Zuckerberg’s company is going to reduce 3600 employees from its workforce. Through this retrenchment, 5% of the employees will be thrown out of the company. According to the report, the company gave this information on Tuesday. As of September, 72,400 employees were working in the company. Regarding performance-based layoffs, Mark Zuckerberg said that the company wants to ensure that the strongest talent is present within Meta.
Meta is not the first company to do performance-based layoffs. Such layoffs are often seen in big American companies. Microsoft also made similar layoffs last week in which the company reduced about 1 percent of its workforce.
Talking about other news related to layoffs, Google has also announced major layoffs recently. Officers of senior positions will be included in this retrenchment. These will include roles like managerial and directors. The layoff will also include posts like Vice President. Overall the company is preparing to remove 10% of the employees from the company.
This layoff in Google is being done in view of increasing competition in the field of AI. Also the aim of the company is to double the efficiency. Of the 10 percent retrenchments, some posts have been transferred to Individual Contributor roles. Whereas some roles have been eliminated by the company. According to the report, CEO Sundar Pichai had indicated in a consensus meeting that the roles of manager, director and vice president would be cut.
