Mayor says that children were late for school

BBC News, Manchester

A Mayor has apologized to a group of Mams, who said that the buses made their children late for school.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Bernham has accepted 203 service between Stockport, Radish, Debdel Park and Pikadili Garden, which is “not very good”.
Many Mams told BBC Radio Manchester that the service was either late or not because a publicly running system in the area was rolled out last month.
One of the mothers, Kimberly Rhodes said that she had ordered her children to go to school as she needed to work later.

The BEE network was launched to the south of Greater Manchester in January – which means that there is now a publicly running bus system throughout the region.
203 service was previously operated by StageCoch and is used by Mams to take his children to school in the red area of stockport.
Stephanie Conwell used a 203 bus to take his son to Abblingdon Primary School in Radish.
“This is completely frightening because the B network was launched. We are never in school on time. It is a cost of £ 20 a week and I have to use taxis,” he said.
“Everything was very good with StageCoch. Buses always changed.”

Under B Network, bus services in Greater Manchester are still run by private companies – but the mayor sets rent, timetable and routes.
Andy Bernham said: “I want to apologize to those mummies – and others – which are impressed by this service. It’s not quite good.”
But the mayor said: “Overall, bus services in the south of Greater Manchester are already equally good – if not better – compared to those they have changed.”
Transport for Greater Manchester (TFGM) said: “We are sorry for delays on 203 and it had an impact on students, parents and other bus users.”
TFGM said: “Service has been affected by roadwork which are due to the end of soon and as a result of the time the time of service time should improve.”
