Mark Carney won the race to make Justin Trudeau successful as the PM of Canada

BBC News, Ottawa
Former Bank of England governor Mark Carney has won Justin Trudeau as the Prime Minister of Canada and the leader of the Liberal Party.
59 -year -old Carney, who easily defeated three rivals, will lead liberals in the next general election, which will be called in the coming weeks.
In his victory’s speech, Carney excluded US President Donald Trump, who has ignited a trade war with Canada and commented on making the country a 51st American state.
Carney, who has never served in the elected office, takes power for Canada at the time of deep instability. Liberal public opinion surveys are leaving behind conservatives, although they have reduced the difference since the trade war with Trump began.
The leadership race began in January after resigning after almost a decade in Trudeau’s office. He faced internal pressure to give up deep unpopularity with voters.
Carney is expected to be sworn in as Prime Minister in the coming days, and will lead the minority government in Parliament.
He can either say a snap general election himself or force opposition parties with an no -confidence vote later this month.
After being declared a winner on Sunday night, Carney said: “Canadian knows that new threats demand new ideas and a new plan.
“They know that new challenges demand new leadership. Canadians want positive leadership that will eliminate partition and help us to create together.”
On Trump, he said that the US President had a “unfair tariff” in Canada.
“He is attacking Canadian workers, families and businesses,” Carney said. “We can’t let him succeed.”
He said that his government would put tariffs on American imports “until Americans show us respect”.
Carney also promised to “secure our boundaries”, which has been a significant demand for Trump in his tariff stand-off.
The former central banker has widely moved to the Centrist Agenda, a change away from Trudeau, which transferred liberals to the left.
In its major promises, as Canada faces a tariff war with the US, its greatest trading partner, pipelines have to proceed to major energy projects, which have faced a political obstacles in recent years.
He has promised a major investment in housing and clean energy projects, and to liberalize trade within Canada, where obstacles between the provinces persist, and change the US to diversify the trade.
During the leadership race, Carney promised to captivate the size of the federal government, which to expand 40% under Trudeau and review a program.
He said that before balanced the operational budget in late February, he would run a “small” deficit “for three years aligning with our fiscal capacity.
Carney has said that the country needs significant investment to combat Trump’s tariff hazards, including defense, energy and port and rail infrastructure.
