A person sueing Liverpool FC claimed that his job application was rejected due to racial discrimination, accusing an HR director of “white privileges” and “Bigotry”.

Asad Farooq claimed that he was not offered the post of first team operating officer in the Premier League giant in 2022 as due to “unconscious bias” from the hiring team.

However, the club said that Mr. Farooq did not have enough experience of the day-to-day operating functioning of the football club.

Mr. Farooq wrote: “Once I proved that discrimination is present in the club, you need to resign and leave my club !! Your club is not welcome to your fanaticism.”

Giving evidence at the Liverpool Civil Justice Center, he apologized for email, told the tribunal that he worked out of “despair”.

“I hold my hands, it should not have been said, I lost my cool,” he said.

“But we are humans and we make mistakes.”

However, after rejecting the job offer to the club’s favorite candidate, the process was resumed and both men came back to the frame.

Mr. Farooq’s application was rejected again.

No ‘no tainted’ of prejudice

The head of Hiring Manager, First Team Operations Lewis Dobson, the Hiring Manager for Bhumika, told the Tribunal that his race had no “no prejudice” against Mr. Farooq due to his race.

Ms. Dobson said: “Your customer’s food background was not involved in day-to-day operations as we were watching.”

Ms. Niaz-Dixon told the Tribunal in her closing presentation: “There is no evidence that the second shortlisting was held with any stains of racial bias.”

Mr. Lunat said to the Tribunal: “The claimant is not saying that there was a conscious decision that no person of his ethnicity should be recruited here, it does not happen,” he said.

“The case here is that there is a physical effect due to breed or ethnicity, which is why it is the case.”

The judge is ready to take a decision on the case on Wednesday.
