Man found guilty of attempting to kill Salman Rushdie

A man who tried to kill and kill famous British-Indian writer Sir Salman Rushdie in New York has been found guilty of murder and attempt to attack.

A 27 -year -old man from New Jersey, Hadi Matar, now faces a possible imprisonment for more than 30 years.

Sir Salman survived the attack, but injuries caused damage to their liver, lost vision in one eye and a paralyzed hand due to nerve damage to their arm.

The jury’s conviction decision came after a two -week case in the Chautaukwa County Court in the state of Western New York, where Matar stabbed Rushdi in August 2022 as he was giving a lecture.

During the test, Sir Salman explained how he first thought that he was punched before he felt that he was stabbed in the right jaw and neck.

He was stabbed 15 times with wounds on his eye, cheeks, back, chest, torso and thigh.
