Loids to close another 136 bank branches

Lloyds Banking Group has to close another 136 branches by March next year, arguing that customers are using digital channels for their day-to-day banking.
This is the latest in a string of the bank’s closure, with the bank – and its rivals – already working through already declared plans.
In the latest announcement, 61 Lloyds, 61 Halifax and 14 Bank of Scotland branches will gradually be closed from May from May.
It comes after the day when a government minister emphasized the importance of access to cash for weak people.
Lloyds blamed the decision to close branches on customers going away from banking in the individual to use mobile services.
Lloyds said the transactions in these branches fell to an average of 48% in the last five years as customers used more use of its app for payment.
The plans will bring down the Lloyds brand into 386 branches, bringing Halifax down to 281 branches and 90 branches in the Bank of Scotland once.
The bank said that all the workers of the affected branches will be offered jobs elsewhere in the company.
Consumer group which? Said that banks and building societies have closed 6,266 branches since January 2015, which is around 53 every month.
