Liverpool’s bishop denied allegations of sexual assault

Liverpool’s bishop has denied allegations of sexual assault mentioned in Channel 4 News Investigation.

The program states that the right Reverend Doctor John Permbalth has been accused of attacking two women.

It said that a woman was allegedly attacked in Essex in the Suba of Chelmsford, where she was a bishop of Bradwell on different occasions between 2019 and 2023. A female bishop also told Channel 4 News that she was sexually assaulted by her.

In a statement, Bishop John said that he had “denied” the allegations, the police had investigated him but did not take any further action.

Channel 4 News said that Bishop John, who was encouraging Liverpool’s bishop in 2023, was voluntarily interviewed by the police in March last year.

Bishop John said: “The allegations prescribed in this program are in relation to the encounters in public settings, along with others.

“I have constantly denied the allegations made by both the complainants against me.

“I have complied with any investigation from the national security team.

“The allegations raised in Essex were also investigated by the police, who did not take any further action.

“As long as I don’t believe that I have done anything wrong, I have taken the lessons learned through this process seriously, stating how my actions can be considered by others.

“I will follow any investigation considered necessary.

“I protect very seriously and work hard to provide proper leadership in this field”.

The Church of England said that it had also investigated the complaints, which had alleged misconduct in the beginning of 2023.

A spokesperson said the investigation “concluded that there was no safety worry, but the result of a learning was identified with which the bishop was completely busy”.

“The complaint was also investigated by the police, resulting in no further action.”

The statement continued: “Another disclosure was done by another woman immediately after the onset of this process.

“The information brought by the second complainant was detected and it was assessed that it was not a security, but it is a case of alleged misconduct.

“Rustic support for another complainant has been provided and running.”

He moved to the UK in 2001, first raised the positions in the state of Rochester.
