Large -scale blackouts as tropical storm near Australian coast

More than 300,000 properties are without electricity in the form of a tropical storm edges near the east coast of Australia, which are surprised the area with heavy rains.

Storm Alfred has been downgrade to a cyclone to tropical, but local authorities have warned that it is a threat that it is “not”.

Violent winds have already dropped trees and electric lines, which has flooded down the roads as the storm reaches near the landfall. Alfred is estimated to hit the coast near Brisbane before moving inward on Saturday.

Thousands of people have been asked to get out of the storm, while others have been urged to stay indoors.

Four million people across Queensland and North New South Wales are in the firing line of the storm, with dozens of weather warnings in both areas.

Emergency services say that they are working with energy companies, some residents were told that they could be without electricity for days.

According to energy provider Ergex, around 287,000 customers are experiencing outage in South East Queensland, while Essential Energy said that more than 42,600 houses and businesses experienced blackouts in New South Wales.

In the Queensland capital Brisbane, people went to bed on Friday for strong winds and heavy rains.

They woke up on Saturday to find out that the cyclone was downgrated and the city would survive the worst season.

But this danger is not in South -East Queensland and other parts of North New South Wales.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanis has stated that “the worst is yet to come yet”, and with the Gold Coast, which has been pummailed by bad weather for the last few days, the circumstances are still very extreme.

As the storm has reached close to the landfall, about 1,000 schools have been closed, public transport has been suspended and the airports are closed. Alternative surgery has also been canceled.

Flights are not expected to resume as soon as possible.
