According to court documents, a federal judge has blocked the Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) of Elon Musk by reaching the individual financial data of millions of Americans in the records of the Treasury Department.
US District Judge Paul A. Angelmeyer on Saturday issued an initial prohibition to ban access, which immediately destroyed any copies of the record.
This step was filed by the Attorney General of the 19 State, after Dogi, the Trump administration sued, the initiative to cut a cost led by Musk was accessible to records.
He argued the access to Musk, a “special government employee”, and Dogi, which is not an official government department, violated the federal law.
No immediate comments were made from the White House, President Donald Trump or Musk.
The Democratic State Attorney General on Friday sued Trump, Treasury Department and Treasury Secretary Scott Besant.
Angelmeyer’s orders, launched on Saturday, states that states would face “irreparable” losses without immediate relief.
“It is due to both the risk that the new policy presents about the disclosure of sensitive and confidential information and which in the question will be more vulnerable than before hacking the system,” the order read.
This order prevents the defendants from providing access to the records of the Treasury Department with special government employees, political appointments and other employees outside the department with personally identified or confidential information.
Prohibition prevents someone else from reaching records other than civil servants who need to do so for their work in the Bureau of Fiscal Services and have been examined.
The judge further ordered any person to destroy copies of records.
The conditions will remain till the next court hearing on 14 February.
