Israel’s military publishes first report on 7 October 2023

Israel’s army has published its first official account of mistakes that led to Hamas’s failures during the 7 October 2023 attack, which triggered the Gaza war.
The report concludes that Israel Defense Force (IDF) “failed to mission to protect Israeli citizens”.
There is a lot in the 19-Report report that already knows that about 5,000 gunmen from Hamas and other Palestinian groups caused horrific damage to about 5,000 gunmen in Israel, also 251 hostages in the process.
There is no dramatic revelation, but it is still to see the findings of the army to see how it misunderstood Hamas’s intentions and underestimated its abilities kept in black and white.
The report said that the army considered Gaza a secondary security threat, which was given priority to Iran and Hizbullah. Its policy towards Gaza, says, “Contradictory: Hamas was illegitimate, yet there was no attempt to develop an option”.
It says that the army chose a “struggle management” approach to deal with Gaza. And it was assumed that Hamas was “neither interested (in) nor was preparing for war on a large scale” – a perception reinforced by Hamas’s strategy of his deception.
The subsequent evidence of 2018 suggests that Hamas – prosecuted as a terrorist group by Israel, America, Britain and other countries – was actually developing an ambitious plan, explaining as “unrealistic or unforgivables”, which reflects “instead of a working danger” the long -term aspirations of Hamas “.
The report stated that in the leading months for the war, the Directorate of Military Intelligence began to develop a new evaluation, suggesting that Hamas’s plan was not just a vision, but “a solid structure for the operational plan”.
However, this emerging assessment was not brought to the attention of senior officials in military intelligence.

The report identifies a broad line of decency within the army about Hamas’s intentions and how to deal with this danger.
“There was no deep discussion of the question: what if we are wrong?” The report says.
Over time, “a significant and continuous difference between the intelligence of Hamas and reality” developed “.
The report also states what it says “The decline in deep familiarity with the enemy’s different world vision, including its culture, religion, language and history”.
It says for deep improvement of the culture of the Directorate of Intelligence, “intellectual openness, doubt, hearing, learning, debate and promoting creative disagreement”.
It says that the desire to protect highly valuable intelligence sources contributed to army failure to increase alert level immediately before 7 October.
The Gaza Division, says, “On October 7” was effectively defeated for several hours “, it was significantly spoiling his ability to understand what was going on and responding effectively.
It states that the Air Force responded quickly, but “IDF was a significant difficulty between soldiers, citizens and terrorists”.
The report also states that in some incidents, the injured soldiers were taken out in front of citizens.

After presenting the conclusions to the commanders on Monday, the outgoing IDF employees, Lieutenant General Herzy Helivy said they took full responsibility for the failures.
“I embrace my responsibility. This is mine. I was the commander of the army on October 7 and I have the responsibility of you. I see that I am like me too. And I see that what has gone wrong in every command of mine is also a part of mine,” he said in a video.
Last month, the General announced its resignation on failures and called a commission of investigation to conduct a comprehensive investigation that would help prevent another attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has not accepted any responsibility for what happened on 7 October, has said that such a state investigation should wait till the end of the war.
His critics accused Shri Netanyahu of not ready to accept any personal mistake.
According to the region’s Hamas-Interested Health Ministry, Israel responded to the October 7 attack by launching an aerial and ground campaign in Gaza, killing at least 48,365 people.
