Israel again forced Palestinians in Maghazi camp to flee to save their lives. Israel-Palestine conflict news
Israel is forcing Palestinians to evacuate the Maghazi refugee camp after claiming that a rocket attack came from the central Gaza area.
The Israeli military issued a threat to Palestinians on Wednesday with the forced evacuation of a five-block area of the refugee camp after it said Israel was hit by four rockets.
There is no end in sight to Israel’s war on Gaza after more than 14 months of relentless bombardment, which has killed more than 44,805 Palestinians. Most of the victims are children and women.
The Israeli offensive in Gaza continues even as a ceasefire was agreed with Lebanon’s Hezbollah last month and attention turns to the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by opposition fighters.
Both the current and incoming administrations of the United States have said that they expect the war in Gaza to end before Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
Ceasefire talks are starting in Egypt’s capital Cairo. Previous negotiations have repeatedly stalled.
Meanwhile, the UN General Assembly on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved resolutions demanding an immediate Gaza ceasefire. It also supported the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), on which Israel has proposed sanctions.
Israel and its close ally, the US, were among the nine countries that voted against the resolutions which are not legally binding, although they reflect world opinion. The ceasefire vote was supported by 158 countries in the 193-nation assembly, with 13 countries abstaining.
