Huge L.A. fire burning behind CBS reporter
The fire burning in Pacific Palisades, an affluent Los Angeles neighborhood near Malibu and Santa Monica, is growing at an alarming rate.
Its trajectory was fueled by a fierce wind phenomenon – dry winds blowing north and east from the mountains and up the LA coast, called “Santa Ana winds.”
Danya Bakas, correspondent for the BBC’s US partner CBS News, is reporting from the scene. She describes how “explosive” the inferno is growing, with gusts of wind sending up embers that fan the flames.
