Holi 2025: India is alive with a festival of colors

Millions of Indians are celebrating Holi, The Festival of Colors.
The spring festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil and marks the end of winter.
People brighten an bonfire, smear or spray friends and family members with color and water, and feast on the traditional dessert prepared for the occasion.
It is one of the biggest festivals in India, in which millions of people return to celebrate with loved ones in their hometown.
The festival respects the divine love of Hindu deities Radha and Krishna, and Uddam celebrations are held in the northern Indian cities of Mathura and Vrindavan, believed to be their birthplace.
Historical texts suggest that the festival has long been observed to mark a good crop and search for fertile land.
