Fury vs Usyk 2: Tyson Fury unhappy with scorecard
Tyson Fury refused to admit he lost his rematch against unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and claimed the judges gave him a “Christmas present”.
All three judges scored the fight 116–112 in Usyk’s favor, giving the Ukrainian his second consecutive win over Fury.
Both Fury and his promoter Frank Warren were adamant that the Briton had done enough to win the contest in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“The judges gave him a Christmas present,” Fury said.
“I think I won both fights. I know I had to knock him out but it’s boxing and it happens. There’s no doubt in my mind that I won this fight.”
“Frank (Warren) had me up three or four rounds and a lot of guys had me up at least two rounds.”
Fury, 36, did not answer any questions in the ring after the fight and eventually went backstage to speak to the media.
“I’m not going to cry over spilled milk, it’s over now.” Fury added.
“I’ve been boxing my whole life but I’ll always feel like it took a little bit of work – not a little bit, a lot.”
Warren of Queensberry made his disappointment at the result clear in the ring and he later continued his claim for Fury’s victory.
“I’m surprised at how they (the judges) scored it,” Warren said.
“His put was great, his footwork was great, he wasn’t slow. He was very evasive.”
Usyk’s victory extends his unblemished record to 23 wins and further cements his claim as one of the greatest players of this generation.
“Uncle Frank, I think he’s blind,” Usyk said.
“If Tyson says it’s a Christmas gift then so be it, thank God, not Tyson. Thank my team.”
