Former US President Bill Clinton admitted to hospital due to fever
Former US President Bill Clinton has been hospitalized after suffering from a fever, according to a spokesman for the Democrat.
“He is in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving,” Angel Urena, the ex, wrote on Twitter.
He said Clinton was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington DC on Monday evening for testing and observation after developing a fever.
Mr Urena’s statement did not provide further details about the Arkansas Democrat’s condition, although US media reports indicated that Clinton was expected to recover.
A source close to Clinton gave this information nbc news The situation is “not urgent” and the former president will be “fine.” News networks reported that Clinton was awake and alert.
It is the latest health concern for the 42nd US president, who served in the White House from 1993 to 2001.
Clinton, 78, was last hospitalized for six days in 2021 in California after developing a blood infection. It is also known that he had suffered heart problems in the past.
In 2004, at the age of 58, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery after doctors found signs of extensive heart disease and, ten years later, his blocked artery was opened after complaining of chest pain.
Shortly after his second surgery, the former president – known for his love of fatty foods – became a vegetarian. He told Politico in 2016, “If I hadn’t become a vegetarian I probably wouldn’t be around. It’s great.”
Clinton was active in the presidential campaign this year, as she traveled the country to promote Vice President Kamala Harris’s bid for the presidency.
Last month, she released her latest book, Citizen: My Life After the White House.
