Footage from the scene circulated on social media showed a vehicle engulfed in flames.

Al Jazeera’s Anas al-Sharif said Ayman al-Zadi was waiting for his wife in front of the hospital while she was in labor giving birth to their first child.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) condemned the killing of four Palestinian journalists by Israel within a week earlier this month and called on the international community to hold the country accountable for attacks against the media.
At least 141 journalists have been killed in Israel’s war in Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to CPJ.
