Fastag rules change: To avoid penalty, you have to know these things

The toll collection system is currently being changed. NPCI is going to implement new Fastag rules that will be applicable from February 17, 2025. The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has updated the guidelines for toll management with two changes in the case of verification of the amount in Fastag. It is necessary to know about these changes to avoid penalty and travel better than toll.

Fastag rules changed

The transaction system will refuse to pass any vehicle that has been blacklisted for more than 60 minutes before reaching the toll booth, placed on a hotline or listed as a low balance.

According to RTO, black listing can occur due to low balance, KYC Peding or Chassis number and vehicle registration missing. The transaction will be rejected even if the fastag status becomes incentive 10 minutes after scanning on a toll plaza. If all these conditions occur for any fastag, the system will reject the transaction with Arr Code 176. According to government rules, the vehicle will be charged double toll fee.

The new Fastag rule is an important step towards improving toll booths in India, as it will help in promoting active and legitimate fastags to prevent the congestion on the toll. There will be easy money transactions through digital toll collection systems. For the management of Fastag, vehicle owners need to update KYC to stay updated and do safe travel across India, which will help avoid fines.

Lifetime highway pass

If the vehicle owners who keep traveling continuously and depend on Fastag for it, then the government is planning to start a lifetime highway pass for a safe journey, which will pay 30 thousand rupees to passengers once and travel for a short time. For the people, they will provide the facility to reach the highway for 15 years with an annual pass of Rs 3 thousand. The lifetime highway pass comes with the facility of eliminating this problem, which will ensure easy travel by making users to pay once instead of several toll transactions a year.
