Family says woman trapped in car is lucky to be alive
A woman trapped under a car after being struck while walking her dog is “incredibly lucky to be alive”, her family have said.
Jackie Davis, 63, suffered “significant injuries” and required surgery after the incident, which happened at 06:35 GMT on Monday on Rowan Way, Newport.
He had to be freed from under the vehicle by firefighters and is in stable condition in hospital, German Shepherd Frisby suffered minor injuries.
Gwent Police said the occupants of the vehicle, a silver Volkswagen Passat, fled the scene.
Since then, Crimestoppers have released an image of a man called Ian Probert who they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
Ms Davis’ family said, “We are pleased to report that her dog, Frisbee, somehow managed to escape with only minor injuries and is currently living with family.”

“Without their quick actions or the generosity of blood donors, our mother would not be with us today,” the family said.
