Essex boys killer Michael Steel released
The parole board has said that the killings of the so -called Essex boys will be released from jail.
Michael Steel was jailed in 1998 after drug dealers Craig Rolf, Tony Tucker and Pat Tate were jailed after being shot dead in a range rover near Chelmsford.
The 82-year-old has repeatedly refused to reduce murders.
The parole board stated that “progress while in custody” and other evidence presented at the hearing, the panel was satisfied imprisonment “was no longer necessary for the safety of the public”.
Jack Kisses were also given life imprisonment for murders, but in 2018 his jail sentence was reduced and was released in 2021.
The case was soon referred to as Essex Boys Murds, and became the subject of countless TV drama, films, documentaries and books, which examined his link to other high -profile homeroides and the 1990s Rev Scene.
The parole board stated that it examined the steel application in the hearing in May 2023, May, November and December last year and January.
It said that the justice secretary, a representative for Shabana Mahmood, was “party for action”.
The parole board said, “After considering the circumstances of their insult, progress and other evidence presented in the hearing, the panels were satisfied that imprisonment was no longer necessary for the safety of the public,” said the parole board.
