East-SNP chief Peter Murrail accused accused of embezzlement in the court

Former Chief Executive Officer of SNP Peter Murrail Edinburgh has appeared in the Sheriff Court on charges of embezzlement.

Mr. Murrail, husband of former first minister Nikola Sturgeon, was accused as part of the party’s funding and finance investigation in April last year.

He did not argue during a private hearing and was granted bail.

Mr. Murrail was first arrested in April 2023 as a suspect before being released without any charge.

He is understood that he has resigned from his SNP membership.

It was announced in January that Mr. Murrail’s wedding with Ms. Sterzon was ending.

Ms. Sturgeon, who is still an SNP MSP, was arrested in June 2023 without any charge.

Operating branch

Mr. Murrail resigned in March 2023 as Chief Executive of SNP in March 2023 after taking responsibility for misleading the media about the party’s membership number.
