Dent to replace Wallace in Celebrity MasterChef

Food critic Grace Dent is set to host the next series of Celebrity MasterChef, with Greg Wallace stepping down from presenting the show following allegations against him.

Author and podcaster Dent regularly appears as a guest on MasterChef, and last year was a contestant on MasterChef: Battle of the Critics.

In a statement, Dent said that hosting the show was “more than a dream for me” and said she felt “very fortunate” to take the helm.

John Torode, who will remain on the show with Dent and host, said he has “loved” working with him over the years, calling him an “excellent guest and inspiring critic.”

Dent said: “I’ve been watching MasterChef since I was a girl and sitting on the sofa with my dad. My whole family watches it. It’s all about uncovering talent and pushing it – and Reaching this position is more than a dream for me.

Torode, who has presented MasterChef since 2005, said: “I have loved working with Grace on MasterChef for years. She has been an excellent guest, an inspiring critic and has also presented some incredible challenges.

“MasterChef is all about expertise, from the contestants to our amazing production team, to us as the judges.

“The love of food, the love of MasterChef and that undeniable expertise make Grace the ideal person to step in as a judge alongside me for the upcoming Celebrity MasterChef series.”

Following the allegations against Wallace, two MasterChef Celebrity Christmas specials, a Celebrity MasterChef Christmas Cook Off and a Strictly Festive Extravaganza were dropped from the BBC’s festive programme.
