‘Dad should not have been on father to check the schoolgirl’s knife’

Planid Simaru’s education spokesperson has said that a 14 -year -old girl’s bag should not attempt to check a daily check for a knife.

The teenager, who cannot be named, was found guilty of attempting to kill three people after an attack in a school in Carmarthshire in April last year.

Cefin Campbell MS, whose brothers work in school and try to control the girl, said that searching students and employing security guards were the options to consider for schools.

Campbell also called for “better cooperation in information shared between social services and school leaders”.

He said “clearly the person was a distressed person who had gone out in court. We need to ask about support for mental health issues”.

The teenager was found guilty of attempting to kill a disciple in teachers Fiona Elias and Liz Hopkin and Yesgol Diaphreen Aman in April 2024.

All were taken to the hospital after the attack.

Campbell said that when he really did not know what the answer was, he needed to pay careful attention as the Kovid -19 epidemic had increased the knife crime and violence against teachers since the Kovid -19 epidemic.

He said that “Pupils is a solution” to prevent such an incident from happening again, but he questioned “Does the teachers want to play the security guard as well as the teachers”.

He warned that this could cause a conflict and said that there may be another option for schools to appoint “expert security guards”.

Campbell said that “teachers should not feel threatened in any way”, teachers need to consult any plan to ask teachers to check the bag.

He said, “What we don’t want to do is to go on the road of some American states and cities, where every day there are scanners and body scanners for all the metal detectors going to school.”

He said that the students took a knife at the age of six and seven years of the age of two years – “Our society had a very sad prosecution and I have no doubt that social media also plays a role in it”.

The law of the existing Welsh government states that “proper force” can be used to discover arms without the consent of the disciple.

Campbell said he spoke to his brother, Darren, who said “there was a general understanding between the teaching staff and the school community” that the test was over and brought it “feeling of closure”.

“No one was expected to come to school with the intention of harming a 14 -year -old girl and attempting to murder,” he said.

He warned that this could happen anywhere and “the feeling of fear among the teaching staff is still very real”.

The Swanasi Crown Court has heard that the teenager brought a weapon to school every day, and in question that day, her father’s multi-tul knife initially used to attack Ms. Alias.

She shouted “I’m going to kill you”, because she stabbed Ms. Eliias, the jury heard before Ms. Hoppin turned to Ms. Hoppin, which she did not know.

Both teachers said in police interviews that they felt they would die as they were stabbing.

After being described as a “stand-off”, the jury heard the teenager, then went to a separate part of the school, where she ran to a disciple with a knife and shouted, “I am going to kill you Am”.

The pupil was stabbed by Teacher Darel Campbell before stopping the teenage girl, and was later arrested.

The defendant is to be sentenced on 28 April.
