Council shake-up saw delay in elections in nine areas

Local government secretary Angela Rener said that East Sussex, West Sussex, Essex, Thurck, Hampshire, Isle of White, Norfolk, Safok and Surrey would be delayed for one year.

Talking to Parliament, Rener said that the adjournment would pave the way for “General Power Shift from Whitehall to Town Hall”.

He said that for the authorities to choose which was scattered, “there would be an expensive and irresponsible waste of taxpayers’ money”.

However, Orthodox Chhaya Minister Kevin Hallinrek stated that “mass adjournment” was a “worrying day” for democracy.

The shake-up of local councils announced by the government last year will see a small district councils merging with local country councils, known as single bodies as unique officers.

The new bodies will represent a population of about 500,000.
